BALANCE IN MOTION BODYWORK
Santa Barbara Massage & Pain Therapy
To relax the client, I often use acoustic therapy such as binary beats. In easy terms, binaural beats are a series of sounds or tones that are played separately in each ear via headphones. They work by activating various centers in the brain. Which centers are activated, and to what extent, depends upon the exact sequence of tones used. Different sequences produce different effects, such as increased mental focus, pain relief, muscle relaxation, or a feeling of deep mental relaxation. Binary beats are also used in sleep therapy and treatment of ADHD.
In addition to acoustic therapy, also use vibroacoustic therapy, a recognized technology that uses sound in the audible range to produce mechanical vibrations that are applied directly to the body. The technology uses speakers or transducers placed directly on the body, or within mats, to provide a physiological and auditory experience. Benefits include pain management, anxiety relief, relaxation and symptom reduction.
In the clinical environment, vibroacoustic wave therapy has been used successfully for years to blast kidney or gallstones.
